How to Prepare a Stage Hoist Project Brief

A useful stage-hoist brief identifies the application, design load at each point, lifting height, quantity, power supply and control requirements. Add a layout and an itemised supply scope so quotations address the same project.
Start with the production
A useful hoist enquiry begins with the job the equipment needs to do. Describe whether you are preparing a touring lighting rig, a temporary event structure or an installation in a theatre. Include a drawing or a simple plan showing the proposed lifting points, available space and the equipment that will be suspended. These details give the supplier a clearer starting point than a capacity figure alone.
Describe the load at each point
List the weight and dimensions of the items being lifted, together with the supporting hardware. A complete system may include truss, fixtures, cabling and accessories. Provide the intended point layout and ask your project’s qualified rigging team to establish the design loads. Dividing a total weight by the number of hoists does not, by itself, establish the load at every point.
Define travel and movement
State the required lifting height, the available headroom and the intended lifting speed. Explain whether the hoists are used to position equipment during setup or whether the project includes programmed movement. For reference, the Dingyou 2026 catalogue lists DY+ stage hoists in 250, 500, 1,000 and 2,000 kg versions with a listed lifting speed of 4 m/min. Confirm the exact offered configuration before ordering.
Include power and control details
Tell us the site’s supply voltage, frequency and connection requirements. Note the number of hoists to be controlled, the proposed operator location and the approximate cable runs. If a controller or console is already specified, provide its model and interface information so that compatibility can be reviewed as a complete system.

Request an itemised offer covering hoists, chains, chain bags, controllers, cables and any agreed accessories. Ask for model-specific drawings, documentation, lead time and packing details. Planning questions
Can I start with only a total load?
A total load is useful background, but the design load at each lifting point is needed for selection. Include the rigging layout and have your project team establish the point loads rather than assuming equal sharing.
What if some requirements are not final?
Mark them as provisional and keep a revision date on the brief. Ask the supplier to identify the assumptions used in the offer, then confirm changes before ordering.
